چکیده

In recent years a considerable number of reports have been published on the fine structures of many organs. However, no electron microscopic study has been made on the human adrenal medulla. Adrenomedullectomy has been recently employed in the treatment of peripheral occlusive vascular diseases (Durante, 1954; Paaby and Noring, 1955; Ferrand and Alger, 1957). The author has examined the ultrastructure of the human adrenal madulla at adreno· medullectomy and investigated the catecholamine metabolism in the gland by electron microscopy.

Electron immunocytochemical localization of enkephalin-like material in catecholamine-containing cells of the carotid body, the adrenal medulla, and in pheochromocytomas of man and other mammals.

Enkephalin-like immunoreactivity has been localized to electron-dense secretory granules of cat and piglet carotid bodies and adrenal medullae, horse adrenal medulla, and also to human adrenal medulla and pheochromocytomas using a gold-labeled antibody technique performed at the electron microscopic level. The same granules were also demonstrated to exhibit dopamine-beta-hydroxylase-like immuno...

Role of TrkB expression in rat adrenal gland during acute immobilization stress

Expression of tyrosine receptor kinase B (TrkB), a receptor for brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), is markedly elevated in the adrenal medulla during immobilization stress. Catecholamine release was confirmed in vitro by stimulating chromaffin cells with recombinant BDNF. We investigated the role of TrkB and the localization of BDNF in the adrenal gland during immobilization stress for 6...

Effect of heart failure on catecholamine granule morphology and storage in chromaffin cells

One of the key mechanisms involved in sympathoexcitation in chronic heart failure (HF) is the activation of the adrenal glands. Impact of the elevated catecholamines on the hemodynamic parameters has been previously demonstrated. However, studies linking the structural effects of such overactivation with secretory performance and cell metabolism in the adrenomedullary chromaffin cells in vivo h...

"chromaffin" Cell: Electron Microscopic Identification in the Human Dermis.

A granulated cell in human skin has an ultrastructure similar to that of chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla. This cell is closely associated with unmyelinated axons and may be the site of peripheral store of noradrenaline.

NPY regulates catecholamine secretion from human adrenal chromaffin cells.

The aim of the present work was to find out whether NPY synthesized in human adrenal chromaffin cells controls in an autocrine/paracrine fashion the release of catecholamines by these cells. Accordingly, the constitutive and regulated release of both NPY and catecholamines was measured simultaneously in cultured human chromaffin cells. In addition, by using both RT-PCR and a combination of spec...
